Pretty Things, March and Laces

004.JPGHi everyone!

I don’t want to say wow, but it is not surprising anymore to say the year is running fast as it does same every consecutive year.  It is already March on our globe.  And this week sure got away from me like water on the leaves.  Last week I wasn’t too well with colds, flu and fever, I am back on my feet, being me again and I will survive. 042I have been so busy since the beginning of the year and the weather has changed and it’s been snowing for days and temperature has been said to be getting even colder with more snow.  I have been preparing all the works I have for spring and summer – you may know already it is all to do with fabrics.   Movements and settling down has never been easy.  And I have been reading some information about charity organisations in UK and that made me frown.  The government noted and shamed them in saying that more money is going in the pockets of those who have shares in the charities and less money is going for the cause, but this news happened like some three years ago.  And since I had packed up so many stuffs and given them to charities, I thought and hope that my donations been going to the cause and that I did not add to the luxurious living of those owners’ lifestyle.    And with a “Brexit” on the horizon, who knows what next?  –  Waiting for the unknown!2025AAnd I took pictures of some of my stuffs and now selling them on Etsy – making a difference for myself!  But don’t get me wrong, I still have a BIG HEART for those in need, I will NOT STOP GIVING!009Today I visited a flower shop in my little town and I picked some fresh flowers for our home.  Feeling like I needed a dose of some bright colours mixed with the green leaves.  And I combined them with a little of this and a little of that, I took some photos and finally I put together a post.  018Apart from having ambitious thoughts about flowers, I am forever on the chase for interesting bits and pieces – some things new, somethings old.  Since I was a teenager, I found the love for everything old and shabby.  And I grew up in a home that never had a thing about lavish living, but more of a traditional home life with everything done at home.  In later years after he left the British army, my father became a professional carpenter, and every pieces of furniture in our home were made by him.  I do imagine at times, how lucky a girl I am who had it all made by my father.  When I look back on my days, I see that happy vintage childhood full of happiness, comprehension, and family values.  And today I entered the world of interior decorating, and I still love every aspect of things old, rusty, shabby and pretty.  I am venturing in the world of my ancestors, “a future with a bit of back to the roots.” 053I love things like rusty pieces of woods…things with texture.  Aww perfect for my eyes.  If I remember correctly, I think I scavenged these wooden spools from a bid I made over on E-bay a few years ago.  I received a large box filled with materials for sewing and crafting.  In a little note someone wrote “they belonged to my late grandma who passed way at the age of 89 years old.”  I felt sympathy for them.  I realised that every bits and pieces in that box were older than me.  I especially thought they looked very pretty, mixed with a few beautiful blooms I could spend hours and days rearranging them and enjoy every minute of it.026Some weeks ago I went to a “Vide Grenier” in a village, and found some vintage handmade crocheted lace.  It was a treasure I wouldn’t leave behind.  I bought the whole lot of 10 metres together with some check white and red fabrics for good price.  I am now following the movements of “vide grenier” over the internet for their whereabouts since they do not stick to one place only.  I want to just follow them from time to time to try and bargain some good treasures, especially the beautiful vintage cotton fabrics that was kept in cupboards many years ago.025Oh, one last thing, you may still remember a post I made sometimes in 2017 – when I received 100 followers.  I also mentioned about making a “GIVE AWAY” for two of my followers.  “I will name the two persons in my next post that I will be writing in a couple of days.  Since last year, it was in the great mid of summer and I was very busy, I couldn’t think how or what to do about the “give away.”  In some days to come, it will be announced!  I am late for this giveaway – right, “I better be late than never.”  So stay tuned.2023E.JPGWell my lovely people, I hope you are all setting yourselves for that “spring” season that is on the horizon, we just cannot wait.  It would be blooming with daffodils!  I wish you all a wonderful weekend and let’s hope the weather will get better!  Love you and leave you with lots of hugs!DSC_0003.JPGThis post and pictures are my properties!
